This is Blue. We got him as a puppy. He’s a yellow Lab with three legs, a soft spot for the carpet, and zero interest in your personal space.
How he got to three legs is a longer story than we planned to tell online. We’re telling it anyway — because long story short, we love pets. And if these recommendations help other owners keep their animals healthy for less, that’s the whole point of For Pets Like Blue.
— the humans
Still watching the room. Still our Blue.
01 · Puppy chaos
He kept jumping off a wall.
As a pup, Blue had a favourite high retaining wall and a terrible sense of physics. He’d go up, launch, and tumble head over heels — over and over, like the landing was the fun part.
We thought it was hilarious. Until it wasn’t.
“Gravity is a suggestion.”Blue, age: too young to know better
The calm look. Earned the hard way.
02 · The scare
Something cracked. Then it got worse.
He got hurt. While we were traveling, we didn’t know how bad it was. By the time it was clear, Blue was on life support with a blood infection.
That’s the sentence you never want to say about your dog.
The infection ruined his front right shoulder. The leg had to be amputated. Keeping him alive cost what people have put less down on a home — and we would do it again tomorrow.
Three legs. Still gets up. Every time.
03 · Today
A big three-legged yellow Lab.
This is Blue now. He sits like a kickstand, watches the room, gets back up when he wants something, and does not appear to have filed a complaint about the missing leg.
“Four legs seems like a lot of legs to keep track of.”Blue, probably
The full carpet sprawl. Mission accomplished.
04 · The goal
Naps now. A prosthetic next.
Chin down, tail out, completely flat. This is what we almost didn’t get — and it’s what we’re working toward every deal we share: earning enough from these recommendations to get Blue a prosthetic. Maybe even build and test a 3D-printed one.
A good nap shouldn’t be interrupted by an itch. Or by us giving up.
Why we don’t mess around
An infection nearly took him. Prevention is not optional in this house.
We’re not saying flea and tick meds would’ve changed that chapter — we’re saying after watching Blue on life support, we don’t wait around on the everyday stuff that keeps a dog comfortable and protected. Flea and tick prevention is routine, like dinner.
Our rule is simple: let the vet pick the product, then don’t overpay for it.
